Mean, Median, Mode, Range, and Outlier

Vocabulary

Mean- The sum of the data values divided by the number of data items

Median- The middle value of an odd number of data items, arranged in order. For an even number of
               data items, the median is the mean of the two middle values.

Mode- The value, or values that occur most often in a data set. When all the values are the same there
            is no mode.

Range- The difference between the greatest value and the least value in a data set.

Outlier- A data point that is a much greater, or lesser value than the rest of the data set.

Data Set- A group of data points.

Data Point- each value (number) in the data set.

Examples

find the mean, median, mode, range, and outliers:
10.4, 13.9, 12.3, 14.2, 5.7, 10.4, 15.3, 10.5, 13.9

Mean: 11.844444...
Median: 10.5
Mode: 10.4, 13.9
Range: 11.6
Outliers: 5.7

find the mean:
